Vintage Thingy Thursday...My Mom has been framed!!!!!

Happy Vintage Thingy Thursday Ladies! Be sure to visit with the other girls showing up their Vintage treasures over at Colorado Ladys blogspot...click on the banner to take you there!
Most of you know I am a stay home FOR Mom, not to be confused with stay at home Mom!
Today I thought I would share with you a beautiful frame that my Mom gave me a few years ago for my birthday! I have always loved this frame for the patina and ornate work on it.

Justify Full
I have tried to get a close up of the nest near the base so you could see the detail. The "theme" of the frame is birds and roses and eggs, and because Spring is finally ...well..almost in the air here in the Midwest I thought to share it today! I can hardly wait for Spring!
I guess my Mom could be considered Vintage too...she will be 79 this year...shh don't tell her I told you but I believe she could be considered Antique...well Almost! The pearl earrings were also hers...not sure if she wore them on her wedding day as pictured here, but they are a vintage treasure too! I have thought about changing the frame to hold a mirror instead of a picture...but of course when I mentioned it she was not pleased,so for now I shall keep it the same.
And a little giggle to go with this story...my Dad would love to refer to this lovely piece as the day he "flew over the Cuckoo Nest? Hmmm...what do you suppose he meant? Cuckoo over her I assume!

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this ! I am ga-ga over anything with birds to begin with, and this is lovely! I have seen one similar with cherubs and painted white, but the mirror was gone. What a nice treasure you have! Thanks for sharing!

  6. Gotta love your mother...you bet don't change a thing. The frame is beautifully crafted and love the little bowl in front, probably meant to be on a dresser to catch little things like earrings. And your dad sounds like a character. Love the post.

  8. Gosh that's pretty. They just do NOT make things like that anymore...the artistry and vision is just not there now, it's strange...I think a mirror would look so pretty in there, you could even tuck in one of your pretty cards you make between frame and mirror...if a mirror goes in there, I will tell you one thing, it will beyond a thing of beauty in itself, it will REFLECT a truly BEAUTIFUL and GIVING person every time you look in it!!!

  18. This is great! My mom is the same age as yours. She will also be 79 this year! So will my dad. I am behind visiting you it seems. I don't get your blog updates in my dashboard. Nor do they show up on my blog roll. It says it has been 3 months since last post. I don't know why it does that. So in my blogroll you are way down at the bottom. Which is not right. Anyway. I am now caught up again. Hope you have a great weekend!
