VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY...Bottons...buttons...Great Aunt Bertha had the BUTTONS!!!!!!!!

Thanks to a little rain here in the MIDWEST...I can't go to a Gardening Job...so I am finally visiting my blogfriends....and posting for Vintage Thingy Thursday! So rain...rain...go away...but thank you for letting me visit Blogland today! Today I am sharing a couple of vintage things from Dear Great Aunt Bertha's Estate....true treasures...this one...just how I found it....a box of vintage sewing treasures in a Sonomor Safety Pin box! Tucked inside this lovely box were vintage "blue" buttons ( whew did Aunt Bertha have the buttons...lol...and I thought I was a Button Hoarder) Anyway.....vintage brand new packages of seam binding...remnants of blue and orange seam binding wrapped carefully and pinned on original cardboard....blue and white zippers...salvaged to be re-purposed! Aunt Bertha threw nothing away..... she had gone green before going green was even the "IN" thing to do!
I love this color co-ordinated treasure! Obvious to us that Aunt Bertha sorted everything by color....wait to you see some of the other treasures I have to share in my ETSY shop and on E-Bay!
These are a batch of Metal Buttons, that are listed right now on E-bay....I have no idea of their value or age...does anyone have any ideas? Are there any serious button collectors participating today? Can anyone tell me a good sight to research old buttons? Or a great book on Vintage Buttons to buy? I do know that Aunt Bertha always had a story to share about each salvaged button....lol...she had her own button museum!
Please stop over at Suzannes blog coloradolady.blogspot to partake of more gals sharing their vintage treasures. Click on the lady below...and she will guide you there.....
Happy Vintage Thingy Thursday.....

  2. I love finding things in odd boxes. Nowadays we buy cute boxes instead of using what we've already got.
I hope you'll check out the giveaways I've got going on this week.

  10. Everyone was "green" before the 60's. The age excess came with disposable diapers and plastic everything. If your mother and grandmother had something that worked they used it and saved it and treasured it. Maybe your appreciation of these things and saving stuff will bring us back to a sensible life again.
Great post! Makes people think about what they have, what they can reuse and what they don't need to throw away.

  15. What a great treasure to come across. Your Aunt Bertha sounds like my Grandmother who also never threw anything away and found ways to re-purpose everything.

    Pretty blue colors.

  17. Thought I better come over here and see what you have been up to lately. For some reason your blog does not update in my dashboard blog list. Also it does not in my blog roll on my blog either. They show last post as being 6 months ago. I am not sure why it does that. There was another blogger that had that trouble and she somehow managed to fix it.
I love your treasurers too. Hope all is well with you. Have a great weekend as well!!
