Good Morning to all the Babes in Blue....My post today is all about blue babes.....
About 30 years ago my Great Aunt Vera made me this Beautiful Porcelain Doll...she has the sweetest face and the brightest blue eyes which were hand painted. The clothes which look very Victorian were hand sewn and a porcelain glaze was put on them before firing so that it has a "stiff" feel. Each piece of hair is a strand of thread,so you can imagine the work that went into this. She is a beautiful keepsake, as well as the boy that was made to match. Someday for blue Monday I shall post the pair of them. They are proudly displayed on the mantle at my Moms.
The inspiration for this Babes in blue post came from a set of Folk art prints I purchased at the thrift store...the mat and background of these prints are a beautiful shade of blue that my camera would just not capture this morning. I love the doll that is dressed in blue being clutched in her arms.
The matching print has two adorable little gals holding a basket of flowers. Although I don't decorate much in blue (to many years of a Blue Plaid skirt in grade school...ugh....) but I will find a place in my home for these once I paint the frames. Another one of my favorite Blue babes is this porcelain doll , she has her own wood blue clothes trunk, perhaps some blue Monday I shall have a post just about her. For some reason girls my pictures have re-arranged themselves ,so I hope this Blue Babes post is not to hard to follow. Please stop over at Smilingsallys.blogspot.com to see all the "BLUE BABES" participating in this Blue Monday! For now I am off to work on some Pink Faithful Frannie Dolls so they can get into the mail! Happy Blue Monday to all!
Your doll is exquisite, and your prints are neat. I don't overwhelm with blue, but it is my favorite color. I do enjoy touches of it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

Love the prints.. my grandfather painted a reproduction of the girl with the doll (I think) I need to check next time I am at my moms!

Hi Jane,
ReplyDeleteThe doll is lovely. She does have a very sweet face.
I hope you are doing well. Sorry I have been out of touch but I know you understand. :)
Take care, Rita
Jane, I wish you were here! I'm cooking some party food I had frozen for lunch. I just had my dessert first... little mini cheesecake squares, and I sampled them in three flavors. Now, I'm off to the spinah and feta phyllo squares. Just seems like a good day to oggle fabric and eat goodies. Sending you some through cyber space.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Spinah? What on earth is a spinah? It's you know, the stuff Popeye eats! ;-)
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila
Those eyes are mesmerizing! I would find a special place for her. Debbie
